Do I need to use a VPN during my stay in Prague?

We are often critical and sometimes scared before arriving to new cities and nations. Many of us have heard rumors about cruel taxi drivers, late-night violence, or robberies taking place during open daylight in cities around the world. But, maybe you have heard about hackers stealing confidential information from cellphones and tables that you use while enjoying your coffee in Starbucks or Hard Rock Cafe in Prague?

There are many reasons to fear, and it is one of our basic instincts as human beings to fear. It is totally normal, and that is why many people never even dare to get themselves on a flight that will bring them all the way to Prague airport. But, if they first arrive, many people fear what will happen when they try to get to the center of Prague and their hotel. Will they be tricked by a driver? Will they manage to find a taxi at all? As a result, they search Google for information about private airport transfers in Prague with fixed prices, and they will get all sorts of hits on that search. It might be important to look through a couple of hits, if not, you might end up paying a lot more than needed, and that is a big minus coming up at once.

But, just like people ask whether or not they should worry about their airport transfer in Prague, or maybe about whether or not it is safe to drink the tap water in Prague (it is safe), you might wonder whether or not the city is packed with cyber-criminals and hackers out there to steal your private data and confidential information.

Should I use a VPN while in Prague?

I love writing about VPN services and I do recommend using a VPN service, but I should admit and say that Prague isn’t any worse than other cities on earth. As a result, you will probably be safe and experience no trouble at all in 990 out of 1000 cases. But, then you have those remaining 10 in which something might happen, and if you fall into that group, it is kind of sad!

It might be that using WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger will work properly and you do not need to use a VPN for such purposes. But, the problem also remains the same, because a hacker might not be interested in your WhatsApp chat, but he is much more interested in the content stored on your phone. As you log onto an open WiFi network without encryption, they can easily hack onto your device and grab hold of such data.

You should never transmit passwords, bank account information and so using an open WiFi network without encryption, and if you plan on dealing with such confidential information you should probably be careful, even if you use a secured WiFi in your hotel or in your apartment (or in McDonalds). I would for sure recommend using a VPN for such usage, just to be safe and secure. It is so frustrating and annoying if anything should happen, and that is why it is better to be smart before you get into trouble!

Which VPN should you use in Prague?

It is important to surf securely without loosing much speed. Recently I did a speed test checking which VPN provider was the best and fastest in Prague, and on that test NordVPN ended up as one of the best VPN providers. They are seated in Panama which means that they can strictly hold onto their no-logging policy, and in addition they have some of the best prices on the market (especially if you sign up for a longer period of time), and they have servers in more than 60 nations.

It is nice to know that NordVPN has a 30-day refund policy. This means that you can ask for your money back if you do not like their service or do not manage to do what you inititially wanted to do using their VPN service.

You will probably be happy to hear that NordVPN also gives you the chance to use ONE subscription at SIX devices at the same time. If you think about other products you buy online, this is not normal. If you buy one license for Adobe Photoshop, you do not get the right to use it at six devices, do you? Well, if you purcahse a VPN subscription with NordVPN, you do!

What else can you do with NordVPN?

You can do so much more with NordVPN than just using it to surf securely in the Czech Republic with a Czech IP address. In fact, you can use NordVPN to stream content in 6-7 different Netflix regions online. That is super-nice as it will give you access to lots of movies and TV shows that you cannot stream in your current Netflix region at the moment.

Besides accessing lots of Netflix content in different nations, you can also use NordVPN to watch BBC outside the UK, to stream SVT in Sweden outside the borders of the country, to watch SonyLIV in India outside India, and so much more.

These are just some of the advantages you can use once you have a NordVPN subscription, so make sure to start an adventure using their VPN services today.

Do you need help or advice related to using a VPN in Prague?

If you have any remaining questions after reading this article, please write a comment in the field beneath and I will do my best to answer you. The most important is that you feel safe when abroad, so if purchasing a VPN subscription will help you feel safe, buy a NordVPN subscription today and get started. I would much rather feel safe and stay calm, then surfing nervously wondering if anyone will catch me with my guard down.

How can I unblock Netflix in March 2019?

Are you looking for a way to unblock Netflix in March 2019? This article is written in the end of February 2019, and it is not behaving like most other blogs. What do I mean by that?

If you visit other blogs, they have written an article hundred years ago, only to update the date on which it was created automatically, and thus, give you the feeling that it is up to date, when the reality is that it is an old and possibly outdated article.

Which VPN to use if you want to unblock Netflix in March 2019?
Which VPN to use if you want to unblock Netflix in March 2019?

But, instead of doing so, I will just write this article to actually give you information on how you can get access to different Netflix regions, also in March 2019. Maybe I will create a brand new article in the end of March 2019 in order to tell you how you can watch American Netflix, Dutch Netflix, English Netflix and German Netflix in April 2019, but let me first get finished with this one.

Which VPN to use if you want to unblock Netflix?

If you want to unblock Netflix, there are quite a lot of VPN providers to choose from. Most VPN providers do their uttermost to let their users unblock American Netflix, but the big difference between providers is when you try to get access to other regions in addition, like Canadian Netflix, Australian Netflix, and also English Netflix.

Which VPN provider should you choose then?

One of the coolest and best VPN providers if you want to unblock Netflix is NordVPN. It is incredible how I planned on writing an article about how bad NordVPN is, but when I actually tested the service, I was convinced, and suddenly I considered NordVPN to be one of the very best services. How come? They are one of few VPN providers that can totally help you get rid of the proxy and unblocker message so many of us get as we try to access different Netflix regions using a VPN.

How is that done? Well, what they do is that they check their own servers. If a server works with Netflix, they will make sure that whenever you connect to a NordVPN server in that given nation, you will always visit Netflix.com using an IP address that will let you stream Netflix.

If you connect to a NordVPN server in a nation in which NordVPN doesn’t help you unblock Netflix, they will instead do a little DNS-hack, and thus you will seem to come from the United States, and you will have access to US Netflix, no matter which NordVPN server you are connected to. This is really brilliant and it is working very well!

Another VPN provider worth considering

Another VPN provider you could consider if your goal is to bypass geo-blocks on Netflix and get access to other Netflix regions is Surfshark. Just take a look at their recent tweet.

That is a very nice tweet, and it sure tells us that Surfshark VPN should be considered if you want to use a VPN provider that will help you unblock Netflix.

I have done some testing of Surfshark VPN, and even though I had some trouble in the start, they seem to be one of the best VPN providers out there at the moment, and the fact that they will help you unblock Netflix in the USA, in the UK, in France, in Australia, in Japan, in the Netherlands, in India, and in Italy, that is quite amazing. If you want to know more about Surfshark VPN, check the following Surfshark review.

I have got to say that I haven’t tested all the servers promised to work with Netflix by Surfshark, but it sure looks good, and I will do my best to test several of these servers within the near future!

Is there any other VPN provider worth using to unblock Netflix in March 2019?

If you do not want to use NordVPN, and you do not want to use Surfshark VPN, which VPN provider should you use then?

You can mostly forget about VPN providers like PureVPN, HideMyAss, and IPVanish, as they all have some servers that work with American Netflix, but it all stops there. That is not cool. In addition, with both HideMyAss and IPVanish you will have to test tens of servers before you find the one actually working, which again is very complicated and a waste of time.

So, which VPN provider will help you get access to even more Netflix regions than just American Netflix?

At netflix.fromabroad.org you will find ExpressVPN as the featured VPN provider. That is a good recommendation, and it works fine with 5-6 different regions. It can be frustrating, though, because it is a quite expensive VPN provider, and not all their servers work. If you first pay 13 USD for a one month subscription, and then you connect to a server in the USA and you get the proxy and unblocker error message, you might be afraid that you just wasted your money. But, there is no need to worry, because they have servers working in all the promised nations, you just have to connect to the different servers in order to find the ones that are working.

But, if that sounds hard, they also have a live chat available at their website, so you can ask them for help and support if you cannot manage to fix it on your own.

Unblock Netflix in March 2019

So, here you have the choice – it is either Surfshark VPN, NordVPN or ExpressVPN. If you compare the prices, Surfshark VPN is probably the cheapest one, if you check the amount of servers, NordVPN is the biggest, and if you check the ability to unblock Netflix, they are all quite similar when it comes to amount of nations they are able to unblock.

The decision is all yours!

All the mentioned VPN providers have solid money back guarantees, and they will all let you use your active VPN subscription on a minimum of 3 devices at the same time, while Surfshark VPN actually says that you can use it on an unlimited amount of devices at the same time. That sounds kind of crazy though… I guess they have some limitations in there somehow still…

If you have a comment or a question, write them down and I will do my best to help you out. I would love to hear from you!

Is it wrong to write about how you can unblock streaming services?

One question that comes to us and other people writing about VPN services frequently, is whether or not it is okay to write about what we do write about. Is it legal to use a VPN to unblock services?

The question is for sure valid, and sometimes we might ask ourselves the same question. I don’t think there is a 100% answer to the given question. Is it ethical to use a VPN to bypass a geo-block? In a way, the answer has got to be yes, and in another way, probably no.

Hulu in Europe?

Let us say that you want to watch Hulu in the United States, but you reside in England. What will happen then? You cannot stream Hulu, because you are outside the United States. To unblock the service, you will need to use a VPN or a SmartDNS service to get an American IP address, which again will make you able to stream Hulu. But, let us not forget, you will also need to pay for your Hulu subscription. So, Hulu get the money they deserve, and you get to watch what you want to.

If you do not watch it on Hulu, you are most likely to download it from a Torrent site or something else instead…

Unblocking other Netflix regions

Netflix has legal agreements with the companies producing TV series and movies. In one country they have an agreement that let them broadcast a movie, while the other country has not come to an agreement when it comes to that movie. For such reasons, the catalog of content on Netflix is very different from nation to nation. But, is it legal to use a VPN to unblock other Netflix regions? It is for sure a valid question, and I believe the answer is vaguely yes!

The problem is… a VPN isn’t only a tool you use to unblock services. You use a VPN to stay safe online! You use a VPN to encrypt your online movements. Imagine sitting in a Starbucks in New York using an open and unencrypted WiFi network. You want to relax, but you are not willing to risk someone hacking your computer and stealing your important information. For that reason, you want to use a VPN. But, when you try to watch Netflix in that Starbucks restaurant, you get a proxy- and unblocker message because your VPN cannot be used while you stream Netflix. Is that fair? It is no wonder why people look for VPN services that will help you get access to Netflix and at the same time keep you safe online.

So, a VPN doesn’t necessarily have the goal of unblocking other Netflix regions, it wants to keep you safe online. Now, this can be used to get access to other Netflix regions, but it doesn’t have to be the original intention of the user. But, if you first have a VPN that works and will let you stay safe online and get access to Canadian Netflix at the same time, why not?

Unblocking a TV channel that you want to watch!

What if you want to stream BBC in England while visiting France? Maybe you are eager to watch a brand new episode of Cuckoo, or maybe you just want to watch the live stream on a BBC channel to see some content you are interested in watching. Is it legal to use a VPN to unblock BBC? Is it okay to do so?

The question is yet another time valid! I believe that the TV networks don’t really care about whether or not you watch their content outside England. They need to show that they make steps to block users abroad, and that is why they do block different VPN providers. But, if they were really serious about it, they wouldn’t have a hard time actually blocking all the VPN providers on the market and make it almost impossible to unblock TV channels like BBC, ITV, ZDF and similar channels worldwide. After all, they only need to spend a couple of hours looking through the Google search results and YouTube videos to see which solutions people recommend for unblocking the different streaming services and TV channels, and with some tech-skills, they would be able to block them just at once. But, for some reason they don’t? Why not? Maybe they don’t really care?

These channels are glad to have online viewers, and the viewers in France watch commercials just like the users in England do.

And if the TV channels themselves do not really care about these regulations and about VPN users, why should we care?

In other words – what’s up with unblocking streaming services with VPN?

I believe that it is perfectly okay to use a VPN to unblock streaming services. You might call it a lucky coincidence that you are able to unblock streaming services while “simply staying safe online”, or you might call it a tool for bypassing such geo-blocks. No matter what, as long as the TV networks and streaming services don’t take this seriously, why should we?

Why Vimeo is better than Youtube if you want to share your videos on Facebook!

We all know that YouTube is the second most popular search engine in the universe, behind Google. When people want to find something online, or simply watch a movie trailer or something else, YouTube is a natural place to start.

As a result, most of us like to upload our videos to YouTube as well, simply because it is the most popular video portal online, and it is the place you want to be if you want to get lots of subscribers and fans online.

But, have you noticed what will happen if you try to share your YouTube videos on Facebook lately? It is all looking strange, and you are not even able to watch the videos on Facebook. Instead, you are shown an ugly looking URL and a link that will take you away from the Facebook website.

I recently made a video about the best action movies currently available on Netflix in Canada, and I wanted to share it on Facebook. Beneath you can see how it went and what it looked like on Facebook as I shared the Vimeo video and the YouTube video (which are 100% identical) on Facebook.

Sharing a YouTube video on Facebook

If you try to share a YouTube video on Facebook, it will look something like this at the moment.

This is what is looks like as you share a YouTube video on Facebook
This is what is looks like as you share a YouTube video on Facebook

That isn’t exactly cool, and most people will rather keep on scrolling, instead of leaving Facebook to watch the given video, even if they might be interested.

Sharing a Vimeo video on Facebook

But, what will happen if you try to include a Vimeo video on Facebook in the same way? Look at this to see what it is like!

This is what it looks like when sharing a Vimeo video on Facebook
This is what it looks like when sharing a Vimeo video on Facebook

There is no doubt at all about which is the cooler of the two, the Vimeo video. It is so much nicer because you can stream it on the Facebook website, without being taken away at all.

Well, to be honest, you are taken away from Facebook in both cases, but if you look at the thumbs, you are much more likely to watch the video after watching the Vimeo thumbnail than the YouTube thumbnail.

If you use Android to watch the videos

If you are using a mobile device, you will see that the YouTube video looks terrible, while the Vimeo video again looks much nicer. You will remain within the Facebook application as you watch the videos, but you will not watch it directly in the stream, but it will open up on YouTube or Vimeo, inside the Facebook application.

But, again… users are much more likely to watch the Vimeo video as it looks much nicer in the Facebook stream than the YouTube video.

What is the conclusion of this – Vimeo or YouTube?

I know for sure that my conclusion is to use both. You do not have the chance and the wealth to avoid YouTube. That is where the crowds can be found and you need to be there if you want to be someone in today’s world. But, why don’t you start uploading your content to Vimeo as well? You will not lose anything, but you might be able to catch hold of even more viewers, especially on Facebook!

What are your thoughts about this? I would love to hear your thoughts and comments!
